In the Spain (1996) and Spain (2000) election studies, variable A5051 (HEAD OF STATE - COMMANDER OF FORCES) is currently coded as "5. NO" but should instead be coded as "1. YES". According to the Spanish Constitution, the King is the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.

The error can be corrected by applying code similar to the following:

If A1004="ESP_1996" or A1004="ESP_2000" then A5051=1.
