選舉制度比較研究簡介
選舉制度比較研究是跨國的選舉研究合作計畫，其研究範圍超過全球個以上的國家，且所有參與研究的國家在其選舉後研究都使用同一問卷模組。選舉制度比較研究包含三個主題：第一，個體層次的資料，包括投票選擇、候選人與政黨評估，目前與回顧性經濟評估，選舉制度評估與社經變項等。其次，中間層次的資料則有投票偏好(electoral return)、投票率與候選人人數等。最後，總體資料則包含總和投票偏好，選舉規則與選舉常規，以及政體的特性等。這樣的設計使研究人員可以從事跨層次以及跨國的分析，觀察選舉機構對公民態度與公民行為的影響、了解社會與政治分歧的狀態與性質，並且就不同政體的民主機構作評估。
選舉制度比較研究之所以獨特的原因在於其跨國合作的程度涵蓋所有階段，包括：研究議程、調查工具以及研究設計等；這些都是由選舉制度比較研究的計畫委員會所發展出來，而該委員會的成員則包括世界頂尖的選舉研究學者。其發展的研究設計透過參與研究國家的學者實行；目前問卷模組1已被超過30 個選舉後研究計畫所使用，其範圍跨越多個不同的國家。
最初計畫的合作主要在三個主題上，包括選舉機構對公民政治認知與行為的影響（內閣制對抗總統制、規範投票與計票的選舉規則及政黨）、政治與社會分歧與結盟的性質，以及民主機構與程序的評估。共同研究者參與設定研究議程，確定問卷模組，以及決定人口與總體層次的變項。
至於第二次調查模組所要處理的主要問題則是比較有關選舉的兩種觀點，即選舉是掌握政府可責性的機制，以及選舉是使公民的觀點與利益得以在民主程序中被適當表達的一種方式。這樣的問題其目的在探索上述兩種觀點的對比，以及其於機構結構上的具體呈現如何影響投票選擇與民主滿意度。
